Your after-party outfit needs to work beyond the mirror. Try it with the shoes, underwear and jewellery you’ll wear that night, then move in it. A mini might be the look you love, but the neckline, waist and fastening need to feel right too.
Start with the silhouette you want. Our Mini Silk Corset Set has a scoop-neck corset, mini skirt and scarf, while our Couture Silk Corset Mini Dress brings the corseted bodice and mini skirt together in one dress. With the set, check where the corset and skirt meet as you move. With the dress, look at how the bodice and skirt sit together. For either option, we can discuss minor changes to length and corset shape before you order.
If you’re planning a change for the dance floor, show us the design you love and tell us your wedding date. Include any neckline or length changes you have in mind.
Rehearse the whole change
Once your outfit arrives, put on every piece you plan to wear at the reception. Walk, sit, raise your arms, turn, bend to adjust a shoe and dance to a full song. Use the actual shoes rather than a pair with a similar heel. Check the hem near your feet, the neckline when your arms are raised, and every place where a bag, bracelet or necklace touches the silk. Our care guide advises avoiding rubbing against bags and sharp accessories.
If you choose a corset, practise the fastening before the wedding. Room 22 corsets arrive pre-laced, and our corset lacing guide shows the bunny-ears method. Share it with the person helping you change, if someone will be there.
