Try your wedding after-party outfit in motion. Put on the exact shoes, underwear and jewellery you will wear, then dance to a full song. The neckline, waist, hem and fastenings should still feel right when your arms are up and your attention is elsewhere.
Run a one-song movement test
- Walk quickly, sit down and stand up without rearranging the outfit.
- Raise both arms, turn, bend to adjust a shoe and dance through the chorus.
- Check the neckline, the corset-and-skirt junction and the hem near your feet.
- Notice where a bracelet, necklace or bag rubs against silk or catches on lace.
Use the real shoes. A similar heel can change the hem, and a different sole can change how confidently you move. Test every planned underlayer too; the line that looks clean while standing may shift when you sit or raise your arms. If you keep pulling at the neckline or moving the waistband, raise that with the atelier before the wedding.
Choose separates or one piece
